INNOVATION, ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND SUSTAINABLE VALUE CHAIN IN A DYNAMIC ENVIRONMENT

In recent years, the dynamic of the external environment made the availability of sources of competitive advantage for businesses more limited and difficult to come by, especially in the European economic systems. The development of sustainable organizations, and more importantly of sustainable value chains, is one possible opportunity that calls the emergence of new business models able to position sustainable entrepreneurship in relation to sustainability innovation. The identification of conditions under which sustainable entrepreneurship and sustainability innovation emerge becomes a relevant research topic involving academia. It has also relevant implications for theory and practitioners in that it clarifies which business models are most likely under specific conditions to move towards sustainability innovation.

Hence, while the conference will include several tracks welcoming studies from a wide range of management disciplines, it will especially welcome submissions addressed to reducing the gap between conventional business practices and the sustainability innovation, which is emphasised as one of the most important condition by today’s new market demand. Discussions of both private sector examples and social enterprise and entrepreneurship cases in general, and in the Euro-Mediterranean context in particular, are welcome.
Accordingly, a conference special session will host a panel of business leaders, which will present their visions in relation to the main dimensions that characterize the new business models focused on an effective combination between sustainable entrepreneurship and sustainability innovation.
